Soccer Recap: De La Salle Takes Down Clayton Valley Charter in a Playoff Battle

It's playoff time, and De La Salle had no trouble coming through when it counted. They beat the Clayton Valley Charter Ugly Eagles by a goal, winning 2-1. Given the Spartans' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked fifth, while the Ugly Eagles are ranked 32nd), the result on Wednesday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Namir Shlah and Ronan Rattigan scored both of De La Salle's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 24 goals.

The victory (which was De La Salle's fourth in a row) raised their record to 17-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 15 goals over those four matchups. As for Clayton Valley Charter, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-3.

Looking ahead, De La Salle will venture away from home to face off against Dougherty Valley at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Clayton Valley Charter does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
