Preview: Trumbull Eagles vs. Westhill Vikings
Trumbull is 7-1 against Westhill since October of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Trumbull Eagles will look to defend their home field against the Westhill Vikings at 7:00 p.m. Both teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Trumbull and eight for Westhill.
Last Friday, Trumbull ended up a good deal behind Staples and lost 35-18. Despite 154 more yards than Staples, Trumbull couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.
The losing side was boosted by Rowan Johnston, who rushed for 257 yards and three touchdowns. Johnston is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last seven games he's played.
Meanwhile, Westhill took a serious blow against Greenwich on Saturday, falling 43-8. Westhill has not had much luck with Greenwich recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
Trumbull's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Westhill, they have yet to win a contest at home this season, leaving them with a 0-8 record.
Everything came up roses for Trumbull against Westhill in their previous matchup back in September of 2022 as the squad secured a 49-7 victory. Does Trumbull have another victory up their sleeve, or will Westhill turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
