Softball Recap: Putnam Gets the Win

Putnam proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by 12) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They won by a run and slipped past the New London Whalers 10-9. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Clippers have posted since April 14, 2025.

Laci Sinni was a standout: she got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four stolen bases and three runs. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Meyette, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

The win got Putnam back to even at 7-7. As for New London, they dropped their record down to 2-9 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home.

Looking ahead, Putnam will host Lyman Memorial at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Clippers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season. As for New London, they will venture away from home to take on Hamden at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
