Softball Recap: Gibbs Eagles vs. Carter Green Hornets
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Gibbs had no problem doing just that on Friday. They walked away with a 6-1 win over the Carter Green Hornets. The victory was familiar territory for Gibbs who now have five in a row.
Savanna Melo was incredible, going 3-for-4 with a triple, a run, and a double. Dakota Large was another key contributor, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
On Carter's side, Malaney Etherton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on ten hits. Etherton has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't pitched less than seven innings in eight consecutive pitching appearances.
Gibbs pushed their record up to 33-12 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Carter, their defeat ended an 11-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 22-10.
As of now, neither Gibbs nor Carter have any future games scheduled.
