Basketball Recap: Shadow Ridge Comes Up Short

After flying high against Spring Valley last Tuesday, Shadow Ridge came back down to earth. The Shadow Ridge Mustangs had to suffer through a 65-35 loss at the hands of the Bishop Gorman Gaels. The Mustangs were probably out for revenge after losing 59-46 to them when the teams met back in January of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Bishop Gorman's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Aaliah Spaight led the charge by dropping a triple-double on 13 points, 11 rebounds, and ten assists. That's the most assists Spaight has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Kenzee Holton, who went 8 of 13 on her way to 21 points and three steals.

Shadow Ridge's loss dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Bishop Gorman, their win was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-4.

Shadow Ridge will venture away from home to square off against Palo Verde at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Bishop Gorman, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 41-39 defeat against Centennial on the 11th.
