Basketball Recap: Rice Memorial Starts Season with Defeat at Home

Rice Memorial unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a blow against the Saranac Spartans on Saturday, falling 62-23. The Green Knights just can't catch a break and have now endured 21 defeats in a row dating back to last season.

The victory keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rice Memorial will head out to square off against Rutland at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Saranac will take on Beekmantown in a holiday battle at at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Saranac's defense has only allowed 25.8 points per game this season, so Beekmantown's offense will have their work cut out for them.
