Softball Game Preview: Colton Vikings vs. Vernonia Loggers

The Colton Vikings will head out to square off against the Vernonia Loggers at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Last Wednesday, Colton didn't have quite enough to beat Oakridge and fell 21-20. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Wednesday (18), the Vikings still had to take the loss.

Katelynn Kimsey made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored four runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-5. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Hannah Singleterry was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-4.

Meanwhile, Vernonia lost 17-6 to Grant Union on Friday. The Loggers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Vernonia now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Colton, they now also have a losing record of 1-2.

Everything went Colton's way against Vernonia in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, as Colton made off with a 28-13 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Colton since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
