The Sarasota Christian Blazers will venture away from home to square off against the Admiral Farragut BlueJackets at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Sarasota Christian took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on All Saints' Academy with a sharp 21-5 win. Considering the Blazers have won five games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Ashton Klinger was a standout: she got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Selah Spenn, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.
Sarasota Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as All Saints' Academy only managed three hits.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Admiral Farragut). They blew past St. Petersburg Catholic 18-2 on Monday. The BlueJackets haven't had any issues with the Barons recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Brooke McCarthy was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. McCarthy was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. She also put up two RBI, which were her first of the season.
In other batting news, Admiral Farragut got a massive performance out of Jana Fackih, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Fackih also brought in an RBI, marking her first of the season. Alyssa Dunn was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-2.
Admiral Farragut's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-9. As for Sarasota Christian, the victory got them back to even at 6-6.
Thursday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Sarasota Christian has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .599. However, it's not like Admiral Farragut struggles in that department as they've averaged .433. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Sarasota Christian suffered a grim 17-0 defeat to Admiral Farragut when the teams last played back in April of 2021. Can the Blazers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
