Football Recap: Florida State University High School Falls Despite Big Games from Jayme Miller and Michael Jones

Florida State University High School played a tough contest on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 56-35 to the Bishop Moore Hornets. The Seminoles just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.

Michael Jones and Jayme Miller certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Jones rushed for 255 yards and one touchdown while picking up 10.6 yards per carry, while Miller threw for 233 yards and three TDs. Jones really tore up the turf during one magnificent 80-yard run. 100 of Miller's passing yards were hauled in by Jaylan Lurry, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Bishop Moore was led to victory by Blake McCullough and Amar'E Johnson. McCullough threw for 357 yards and four touchdowns while completing 73.9% of his passes, while Johnson rushed for 197 yards and three scores while picking up 7.9 yards per carry. McCullough is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in each of the last three games he's played. Kenyon Alston was McCullough's top target, picking up 112 receiving yards and one TD.

Florida State University High School now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Bishop Moore, their victory was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-0.

Coming up, Florida State University High School will head out on the road to take on Mosley at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Seminoles' defense better be ready for this one: the Dolphins have averaged an impressive 43.8 points per game this season. As for Bishop Moore, they will be playing at home against Lake Mary at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 1,041 yards in their previous games.
