Baseball Recap: Saegertown's Run of 13 Straight Wins Now Over

Saegertown dropped their record down to 13-2 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's 13-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Lakeview Sailors, falling 10-3. The Panthers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Sailors earlier this season, when they won 5-0.

Blake Burchill made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.

As for Lakeview, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 15-3. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games.

On Lakeview's side, Maddox Bell made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. Bell has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, firing off two home runs and six RBI while going 2-for-3. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Jonny Husband was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs. Another player making a difference was Lucas Fagley, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

Coming up, Saegertown will face off against Girard at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Yellowjackets have averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season. Lakeview does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
