Green Valley took care of business in their home opener on Tuesday. They walked away with a 51-40 victory over the Durango Trailblazers. The Gators haven't had any issues with the Trailblazers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Among those leading the charge was Tabitha Bwakamba, who almost dropped a double-double with 18 points and nine rebounds. What's more, she posted four assists, the most she's had since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Talitah Hendy, who earned ten points in addition to six boards and three steals.
Green Valley was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Durango only posted four.
Despite the defeat, Durango saw an underclassman step up: freshman Lailah Cole scored 27 points and seven steals.
Durango's loss dropped their record down to 0-2.
Looking ahead, Green Valley will challenge Box Elder at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bees have been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. Durango has already played their next game (against Basic), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
