The Mount Vernon Mustangs are taking a road trip to challenge the Mount Paran Christian Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Mount Paran Christian took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Mount Vernon, who comes in off a win.
On Friday, Mount Vernon was able to grind out a solid win over King's Ridge Christian, taking the game 24-17. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mustangs.

A big part of Mount Vernon's victory came down to the chemistry between Taurean Rawlins and his top target Keon Clealand. Rawlins picked up 129 receiving yards and one touchdown while Clealand rushed for 134 yards and one score while picking up 7.4 yards per carry. Rawlins' receiving production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 100 receiving yards.
Mount Vernon was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 238 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 161 rushing yards in three consecutive matchups.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Mount Vernon's defense and their three sacks. Leading the way was Ethan Siggers with two.
Meanwhile, Mount Paran Christian played a tough contest on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 45-24 to Landmark Christian. The Eagles were down 38-17 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Although Mount Paran Christian took the loss, they still got scores from Easton George, Harris Meers, and Eli Hewatt.
Mount Paran Christian dropped their record down to 5-4 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Mount Vernon, their record is now 4-5.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Mount Vernon has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 171.3 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Mount Paran Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 212.2 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Everything came up roses for Mount Vernon against Mount Paran Christian when the teams last played back in September of 2023, as the team secured a 44-6 win. In that contest, the Mustangs amassed a halftime lead of 37-3, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
