Basketball Recap: Springfield Renaissance Skates Past Pioneer Valley Regional with Ease

You're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Springfield Renaissance on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew the Pioneer Valley Regional Panthers out of the water with a 79-20 final score. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 38-10.

Leading Springfield Renaissance to victory were Zi'Yan Wallace and Sy'Nye Baker. Wallace dropped a double-double on 22 points and 12 rebounds, while Baker posted 24 points in addition to seven assists and three steals. Wallace is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last eight games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Keishla Rodriquez, who put up 11 points and five steals.

The victory was the third in a row for Springfield Renaissance, bringing their record for this year to 3-0.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Springfield Renaissance and John J. Duggan Academy will round out the year against one another at at 6:00 p.m. on December 30th. Pioneer Valley Regional will take on Lenox Memorial in a holiday battle at at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
