Softball Recap: Piedmont Academy Comes Up Short

If Piedmont Academy was feeling good fresh off their 10-0 takedown of Mount de Sales Academy on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Cougars fell just short of the Westfield School Hornets by a score of 5-4 on Saturday. The Cougars were not able to make up for their loss to the Hornets from their previous meeting back in October of 2024.

Sarah Ellen Stroud was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs. Another player making a difference was Kolbee Osborne, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI.

Piedmont Academy dropped their record down to 2-19 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Westfield School, their win bumped their record up to 14-7.

Coming up, Piedmont Academy will challenge George Walton Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Westfield School, they will take on Pinewood Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Patriots will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something the Hornets surely won't give up without a fight.
