Softball Recap: Odyssey Institute's Losing Streak Snapped at Ten Games

Odyssey Institute had to endure a ten-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against the Highland Prep Honey Badgers by a score of 15-12 on Friday. This was a revenge game for the Minotaur: when they faced off against the Honey Badgers back in March, they had to take a 25-4 defeat.

Odyssey Institute got a massive performance out of Ziomarah Vera, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. Those four RBI gave Vera a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaden Schwartz, who scored four runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.

Odyssey Institute was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .553. Their batting average was a full 0 higher than the also-impressive .417 that Highland Prep posted.

Odyssey Institute picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 3-11. As for Highland Prep, they dropped their record down to 3-8 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Odyssey Institute will host ALA - West Foothills at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. The Minotaur's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Guardians have averaged an impressive 9.9 runs per game this season. As for Highland Prep, they will welcome River Valley at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. The Dust Devils will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Honey Badgers surely won't give up without a fight.
