Gibson County hasn't had much luck against Westview recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Pioneers will head out on the road to take on the Chargers at 5:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Gibson County will bounce into Thursday's contest after beating Milan, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Pioneers had just enough and edged out the Bulldogs 3-2 on Tuesday.

Hannah Prestininzi made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Prestininzi wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Avery Owens, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Westview came out on top against Brighton on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run fifth inning. The Chargers took their game against the Cardinals 7-4. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Chargers.
Like Gibson County, Westview also got a great game from a two-way player: Lakyn Rogers. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Rogers was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple.
In other batting news, Westview got a big performance out of Sarah Byars, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Annelise Hayden also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.
Gibson County's record is now 4-8-1. As for Westview, their record now sits at 9-5.
Gibson County couldn't quite finish off Westview in their previous meeting on April 8th and fell 4-2. Can the Pioneers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
