Softball Game Preview: Rock Hill Blue Hawks vs. Prosper Eagles

The Rock Hill Blue Hawks are taking a road trip to take on the Prosper Eagles at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Rock Hill proved they can win big on Monday (they won by 16) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past Plano West 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Blue Hawks have posted since March 15, 2024.

Madilynn Grossman made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Grossman wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Aliyana Sanchez, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Lilly Kroll also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Rock Hill hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in three consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Prosper). Everything went their way against Plano East on Tuesday as Prosper made off with a 13-5 win. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Prosper's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs over those games. As for Rock Hill, their victory ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 4-6.

Rock Hill might still be hurting after the 10-0 loss they got from Prosper in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can Rock Hill avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
