Preview: Steward Spartans vs. Bearden Bulldogs
Having just played yesterday, the Steward Spartans will jump right back in to play the Bearden Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
On Thursday, Steward made easy work of Morristown-Hamblen West and carried off a 58-38 win. With that win, Steward brought their scoring average up to 50.2 points per game.
Steward relied on the efforts of Sanai Green, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds, and Tori West, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds. The game was Green's ninth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Hali Harris, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Bearden put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. Couldn't have asked for a better way to wrap up 2023 than the 70-35 stomp they got on the road against Greeneville. With Bearden ahead 40-19 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Steward's win bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Bearden, their win was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-0.
