Football Recap: Baldwin Finds Playoff Glory Versus Bishop Snyder

It's playoff time, and Baldwin had no trouble coming through when it counted. Their defense stepped up to hand the Bishop Snyder Cardinals a 7-0 shutout on Tuesday. This was a revenge game for the Indians: when they faced off against the Cardinals two weeks ago, they had to take a 6-0 defeat.

Leighley Cooper was the offensive standout of the matchup as she picked up 88 receiving yards and one touchdown. Those 88 receiving yards gave her a new career-high.

Baldwin didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Breianna Stephens, Symphony Gilbert, and Natalie Ramirez-Cruz picked up one apiece. Stephens also made seven total tackles, which is notable because Baldwin is 2-1 when she posts at least three total tackles, but 4-7 otherwise.

The victory made it two in a row for Baldwin and bumps their season record up to 6-8. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 13 points in those games. As for Bishop Snyder, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-5.

As of now, neither Baldwin nor the Cardinals have any future games scheduled.
