Soccer Game Preview: St. Petersburg vs. Osceola

The St. Petersburg Green Devils will square off against the Osceola Warriors at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday. St. Petersburg is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 4 goals per game this season.

St. Petersburg is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. Their defense stepped up to hand Northeast a 1-0 shutout. The Green Devils' winning goal came courtesy of Cameron Lehtovirta.

Meanwhile, Osceola came tearing into Monday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4 goals) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Tornadoes by a score of 2-0. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 26th, while the Tornadoes are ranked 203rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

St. Petersburg's win bumped their record up to 11-2-1. As for Osceola, they are also on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-2 record this season.

St. Petersburg suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Osceola in their previous meeting on January 10th. Can St. Petersburg avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
