Basketball Recap: Ashley Comes Up Short

Ashley and Garner squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Ashley had to settle for second. They took a 64-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Garner Trojans. While losing is never fun, the Screaming Eagle can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 269th, while the Trojans are ranked 18th).

Ashley has also traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-15 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.2 points over those games. Garner has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 17 of their last 19 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-4 record this season.

Ashley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Garner, they will challenge Cardinal Gibbons on Friday.
