Softball Game Preview: Spring Valley Timberwolves vs. Lincoln County Panthers

Spring Valley hasn't had much luck against Lincoln County recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Timberwolves will face off against the Panthers at 6:00 p.m. Neither Spring Valley nor Lincoln County posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Spring Valley fell victim to Chapmanville Regional and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 1-0.

Addie Lowe spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

Lincoln County had taken Point Pleasant down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Thursday. The Panthers came up short against the Big Blacks, falling 7-1.

Lincoln County also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Laney Nelson gave up seven runs (all of which were unearned) on 11 hits.

At the plate, Lincoln County saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Abby Bowen, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Lincoln County's loss dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Spring Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-18.

Spring Valley suffered a grim 7-0 defeat to Lincoln County in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Timberwolves avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
