Baseball Recap: Rochester Snaps Five-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Rochester barely beat St. Joseph the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Rams were the clear victors by an 11-2 margin over the Spartans on Tuesday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Rams also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Justin Schurr spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on three hits and racked up 13 Ks. He is becoming a predictor of Rochester's success: when he posts at least eight strikeouts the team is undefeated (and 0-5 when he doesn't).

At the plate, Logan Lyons was incredible, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with five stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Rochester is undefeated when Lyons posts two or more runs, but 0-5 otherwise. Keegan Currie was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Rochester's victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-5. As for St. Joseph, their loss was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-9.

Rochester will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Spartans: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
