Softball Recap: Saint Mary's Comes Up Short

Saint Mary made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Albany, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Panthers fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 9-7 on Friday. The loss continues a trend for the Panthers in their meetings with the Cougars: they've now lost nine in a row.

Zoe Buckner made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. London Crawford was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs.

Saint Mary's defeat dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Albany, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-9 record this season.

Saint Mary's will head out to square off against Rancho Cotate at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Panthers are facing the Cougars at the right time seeing as the Cougars are stuck on a four-game losing streak. Albany does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
