Soccer Game Preview: Aiken vs. Gilbert

For the first time this season, Aiken will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will challenge the Gilbert Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Aiken's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Aiken saw some tournament action on Saturday. They lost 5-1 to Greenwood. Logan Heath was hit with a yellow card, which may have had some impact on his (and the team's) ability to make aggressive plays.

Aiken's goal came courtesy of Tyler Carlisle, which was the first he's scored this season.

Meanwhile, Gilbert's game on Tuesday was all tied up 1-1 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over Crestwood.

Aiken's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Gilbert, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.

Aiken came up short against Gilbert in their previous matchup back in April of 2025, falling 2-0. Can the Fighting Green Hornets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
