Football Game Preview: St. Anne's-Belfield Saints vs. Roanoke Catholic Celtics

The St. Anne's-Belfield Saints will venture away from home to take on the Roanoke Catholic Celtics at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. St. Anne's-Belfield knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 31 points or more in their past four games -- so hopefully Roanoke Catholic likes a good challenge.

Last Friday, St. Anne's-Belfield strolled past Virginia Episcopal School with points to spare, taking the game 33-14. The Saints haven't had any issues with the Bishops recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

St. Anne's-Belfield's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jonah Brent, who rushed for 37 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Rylan Goffe-Lambert got in on the action too, returning a kick for a touchdown.

Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 12 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Goffe-Lambert, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Another reason for the win was St. Anne's-Belfield's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. In that department, Daniel Agardi was the leader with two.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Roanoke Catholic, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They blew past The Covenant, posting a 56-0 win. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Celtics considering their eight-point performance the contest before.

The victory got Roanoke Catholic back to even at 2-2. As for St. Anne's-Belfield, their win bumped their record up to 4-0.
