Volleyball Recap: Plainville Blue Devils vs. Newington Nor'easters

Plainville was the 3-2 winner over Newington when they last played one another back in October of 2016, but their luck changed this time around. The Blue Devils took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Nor'easters on Monday. The Blue Devils have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-19, 22-25, 25-11.

Olivia Carter paced Plainville's offense, picking up 12 kills. Carter got some help from Mia Palia and her 12 assists. Jordan Bright controlled things from the service line, finishing with five aces.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Newington to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sofia Guida, who had 30 digs and four assists. With that strong performance, Guida is now averaging an impressive 10.1 digs per game. Olivia Tardif was another key player, getting ten digs and two aces.

Plainville's defeat dropped their record down to 11-7. As for Newington, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-12 record this season.

Plainville wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 3-1 loss against Avon on the 22nd. Newington does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
