Softball Recap: Nevada Union Takes a Loss

Nevada Union had lost eight straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Monday they dropped down to 0-2 to make it nine. They came up short against the McClatchy Lions, falling 11-1. If the Miners were looking for revenge after losing 12-6 to the Lions when the teams met back in March of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for McClatchy, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs this season.

For McClatchy's part, the team relied heavily on Samantha Apostolos, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and two runs. Those three RBI gave Apostolos a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayeliza Rogers, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

Coming up, Nevada Union will head out to face off against Rio Americano at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for McClatchy, they will be playing at home against Folsom at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
