Valley View proved they can win big on Saturday (they won by seven) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the Delaware Valley Warriors 8-6. For the Cougars, this counts as revenge for the 11-5 win the Warriors walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2025.

Kevin Essig was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 3.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tyler Muchal, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (two). Another player making a difference was Marco Ruby, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one run.

Valley View's victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-6 and their overall record up to 3-9. As for Delaware Valley, their loss was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-8.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Valley View is set to challenge their familiar foe North Pocono at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Delaware Valley will face off against rival Scranton Prep at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
