Basketball Recap: Gianna Johnson-Jeffries' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Southeast Career Tech over Eldorado

If Southeast Career Tech was riding high fresh off their 56-22 takedown of Bonanza last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Southeast Career Tech Roadrunners fell just short of the Eldorado Firehawks by a score of 48-46 on Friday. The Roadrunners were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Firehawks earlier this season, when they won 47-37.

Southeast Career Tech's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gianna Johnson-Jeffries, who posted 11 points and three steals. The dominant performance gave Johnson-Jeffries a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Liyah Elfberg, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 15 boards.

Eldorado got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Skyler Bell out in front who earned 19 points in addition to seven rebounds and six blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyteaira Foreman, who had 13 points and five boards.

Southeast Career Tech has been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 13 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-15 record this season. As for Eldorado, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-8.

Southeast Career Tech will square off against Valley at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Eldorado has already played their next game, a 63-13 defeat against Somerset Academy Losee on the 27th.
