Basketball Recap: Marilynn Wilkerson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Cooper over Fruitvale

If Cooper was feeling good fresh off their 57-32 takedown of Yantis last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bulldogs lost 49-28 to the Fruitvale Bobcats on Monday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bulldogs of the 47-45 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in November of 2024.

Cooper lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Marilynn Wilkerson, who posted ten points. Another player making a difference was Zariah Harper, who put up nine points.

Cooper's defeat dropped their record down to 5-13. As for Fruitvale, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 10-6.

Coincidentally, Cooper and Fruitvale will both be playing Chapel Hill the next time they take the court. The Bobcats will head out to face the Bulldogs at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, while the Bulldogs will play them later in the day, at 4:30 p.m.
