Soccer Game Preview: Willow Canyon vs. Horizon

The Willow Canyon Wildcats will challenge the Horizon Huskies at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Willow Canyon has three straight wins, Horizon has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the pitch.

It was a proper cat-fight when Willow Canyon challenged Kellis on Tuesday. Willow Canyon blew past Kellis 7-1. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by three goals or more this season.

Meanwhile, Horizon didn't have quite enough to beat Desert Mountain on Tuesday and fell 3-2. While losing is never fun, the Huskies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona soccer rankings (they are ranked 70th, while Wolves are ranked 13th).

Charli Royce and Brooklyn Inman scored both of Horizon's goals, bringing their combined season tally to seven goals.

Willow Canyon pushed their record up to 8-6-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 15 goals over those four matchups. As for Horizon, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6-1.

Willow Canyon might still be hurting after the 5-1 defeat they got from Horizon when the teams last played back in January of 2024. Can Willow Canyon avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
