Baseball Recap: Claiborne Christian Comes Up Short

Claiborne Christian dropped down to 9-9 on Thursday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They came up short against the St. Frederick Warriors, falling 10-1. The Crusaders were not able to make up for their defeat to the Warriors from their previous meeting back in March of 2025.

As for St. Frederick, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-14. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games.

For St. Frederick's part, NICK RILEY spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits. RILEY also tossed a walk, which is notable because the Warriors are 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 7-13 otherwise.

At the plate, St. Frederick let OWEN ONEIL and CLAYTON TURPIN run wild. ONEIL went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while TURPIN went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That's the most runs TURPIN has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of MICHEAL MALLOY, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one stolen base.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Claiborne Christian will head out to square off against Quitman at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for St. Frederick, they will challenge Weston at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Wolves will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
