Baseball Game Preview: C.B. Aycock Golden Falcons vs. West Johnston Wildcats

C.B. Aycock and West Johnston are an even 3-3 against one another since March of 2022, but likely not for long. C.B. Aycock will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against West Johnston at 7:00 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.

C.B. Aycock is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by an 11-4 margin over Fike on Friday. The Golden Falcons haven't had any issues with the Demons recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Janeson Steele was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. C.B. Aycock is 2-1 when Steele posts two or more runs, but 1-5 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Caden Cox, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Landon Davis, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI.

C.B. Aycock kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, West Johnston got themselves on the board against Smithfield-Selma on Friday, but Smithfield-Selma never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Spartans with a sharp 22-0 victory. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by eight runs or more this season.

West Johnston is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. C.B. Aycock's victory bumped their record up to 3-6.
