Football Game Preview: North Stokes Vikings vs. East Columbus Gators

After each having a week off, the North Stokes Vikings and the East Columbus Gators will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. East Columbus took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on North Stokes, who comes in off a win.

North Stokes gave up the first points last Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past South Stokes 14-12. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Vikings.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead North Stokes to victory, but perhaps none more so than Gavin Hernandez, who picked up 166 receiving yards. Those 166 receiving yards gave Hernandez a new career-high. Jackson Bodenhamer was in the mix as well, providing North Stokes with two touchdowns.

North Stokes didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited South Stokes to a completion percentage of just 50%. The Vikings are 2-1 when they limit the passing game like that.

North Stokes didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Aiden Bennett.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for East Columbus' offense. They were outmatched by Lakewood and fell 36-0. The Gators' loss continues a trend for the team, making it four in a row.

East Columbus' defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for North Stokes, their record now sits at 4-6.
