Basketball Recap: Marianna Wins Going Away Against Port St. Joe

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Blountstown, Marianna was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Port St. Joe Tiger Sharks with a sharp 49-26 win. The matchup marked the Bulldogs' most dominant victory of the season so far.

Marianna's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Dessiah Gee led the charge by going 6 for 13 on her way to 12 points and three steals. Ja'Shonna Mathis was another key player, putting up 12 points and six rebounds.

Port St. Joe's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was KK McNair, who posted eight points. The team also got some help courtesy of Addy Silcox, who had eight points.

Marianna now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Port St. Joe, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.

Marianna didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 44-41 loss against Graceville on the 12th. As for Port St. Joe, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 2-0 defeat against Arnold on the 11th.
