Basketball Preview: Roosevelt Teddies vs. North Community Polars
The Roosevelt Teddies will be playing at home against the North Community Polars at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Thursday, Roosevelt didn't have too much trouble with the Tigers on the road as they won 39-23. Given Roosevelt's advantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 79th, while the Tigers are ranked 231st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Olivia Wren, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaida Walker, who scored nine points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, North Community waltzed into their game on Monday with three straight wins but they left with four. They walked away with a 70-61 victory over Minneapolis Southwest. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
The win makes it two in a row for Roosevelt and bumps their season record up to 16-6. As for North Community, their victory bumped their record up to 11-7.
Everything went Roosevelt's way against the Polars when the teams last played back in January as the Teddies made off with a 60-34 win. Does Roosevelt have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Polars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
