Freeport and Burrell are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2016, but likely not for long. The Yellowjackets will be playing at home against the Bucs at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. Burrell took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Freeport, who comes in off a win.

Freeport will bounce into Monday's game after beating Knoch, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Yellowjackets put the hurt on the Knights with a sharp 13-4 win on Wednesday. The Yellowjackets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by six runs or more this season.

Meanwhile, Burrell entered their match against Mt. Pleasant on Thursday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Bucs fell just short of the Vikings by a score of 5-3.

Stephen Hasson was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits.

On the hitting side, Brayden Mell was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Freeport's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-5. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Burrell, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-4.

Freeport took their victory against Burrell when the teams last played back in April of 2023 by a conclusive 12-2 score. Do the Yellowjackets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bucs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
