Baseball Game Preview: Port Clinton Redskins vs. Emmanuel Christian Warriors

The Port Clinton Redskins will challenge the Emmanuel Christian Warriors at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Port Clinton has now lost eight straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since the 4th.

Thursday just wasn't the day for Port Clinton's offense. They came up short against Bowsher on Thursday, falling 16-0.

Meanwhile, after only one run in their last match, Emmanuel Christian made sure to put some runs up on the board against Northwood on Thursday. The Warriors were the clear victors by an 11-5 margin over the Rangers. With that win, the Warriors brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Karston Kickbusch made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. He has become a key player for Emmanuel Christian: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 0-4 otherwise.

In other batting news, Luke Carmody was a standout: he got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. Another player making a difference was Ethan Sherban, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run.

Emmanuel Christian's victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 4-5. As for Port Clinton, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-11.
