Basketball Game Preview: Churchill Lancers vs. Springfield Millers

Churchill is 9-1 against Springfield since February of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Churchill Lancers will square off against the Springfield Millers at 6:45 p.m. Churchill is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55 points per game this season.

Churchill took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They strolled past Ashland with points to spare, taking the game 65-47.

Churchill's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ty Read, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten boards. Read is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down ten or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jace Litten, who went 7 of 17 on his way to 19 points and five rebounds.

Churchill smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive boards in four consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Springfield was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 13th straight loss dating back to last season. They were outmatched by Cascade and fell 81-45. While losing is never fun, the Millers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oregon basketball rankings (they are ranked 235th, while the Cougars are ranked 25th).

Springfield's defeat dropped their record down to 0-10. As for Churchill, they now have a winning record of 6-5.

Churchill didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Springfield in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, but they still walked away with a 47-41 victory.
