Basketball Recap: First Baptist Academy Gets the Win

While First Baptist Academy's win against LaBelle wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Lions narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Cowboys/Cowgirls 61-58. The Lions haven't had any issues with the Cowboys/Cowgirls recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

LaBelle's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kaleb Mclymont, who shot 63% from the field to rack up 21 points. Another player making a difference was Jerrahd Williams, who went 5-for-8 on his way to 15 points and five assists.

The victory got First Baptist Academy back to even at 1-1. As for LaBelle, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. First Baptist Academy will head out to square off against Seacrest Country Day at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Lions will be up against the Stingrays' rather soft defense (which has allowed 59 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for LaBelle, they will head out on the road to take on Lemon Bay at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
