Basketball Recap: Rancho Buena Vista Comes Up Short

Rancho Buena Vista lost against San Juan Hills back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Rancho Buena Vista Longhorns took a 91-79 hit to the loss column at the hands of the San Juan Hills Stallions.

When it comes to explaining why Rancho Buena Vista lost, don't look at CJ Aldrich. Despite the final result, he almost dropped a triple-double on 36 points, 12 rebounds, and nine assists. Those nine assists gave Aldrich a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Justice, who went 6 of 9 en route to 13 points and five rebounds.

Leading San Juan Hills to victory were Mason Hodges and Adam Aziz. Hodges dropped a double-double on 40 points and 20 boards, while Aziz went 9 of 17 on his way to 24 points along with eight assists and five boards. Hodges' evening made it eight games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nicholas Francik, who posted seven points and three blocks.

Rancho Buena Vista now has a losing record at 2-3. As for San Juan Hills, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-1.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Varsity Opponent the next time they take the court. San Juan Hills will host Varsity Opponent at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while Rancho Buena Vista will head out to face them at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
