Volleyball Recap: Valley Christian's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Saturday

It was a good run, but Valley Christian unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-match winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of the Abundant Life Challengers by a score of 2-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Challengers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-0 back in September.

Lizzie Fink paced Valley Christian's offense, picking up nine kills. Fink got some help from Lydia Hardy and her 17 assists. Laila Gostas-Sims controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Valley Christian's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 9-1 and their overall record down to 25-7. As for Abundant Life, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 19 of their last 20 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 31-5 record this season.

Valley Christian and Abundant Life should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Wisconsin Rankings. The Warriors (ranked 121st) will meet Berlin (ranked 359th) at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Abundant Life will face off against Dodgeland at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (107 vs. 291).
