Basketball Recap: Lake Central Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Lake Central came into Friday's game having lost nine straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They skirted past the Valparaiso Vikings 58-55. The Indians have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Vikings, too.

It was another big night for Zachary Greene, who went 9 of 14 en route to 20 points. Noah Enyeart was another key player, going 6 for 12 on his way to 14 points and eight rebounds.

Caden Crowell and Maddux Wagner certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Crowell went 7 of 11 en route to 17 points and seven boards, while Wagner almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds. The dominant performance gave Wagner a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Kj Avery, who posted ten points.

Lake Central's victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 3-10. As for Valparaiso, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last 11 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season.

Lake Central will be playing at home against 21st Century Charter at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Valparaiso has already played their next contest (against Lowell), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
