Basketball Game Preview: San Mateo Bearcats vs. Milpitas Trojans

The San Mateo Bearcats will take on the Milpitas Trojans in a holiday battle at at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with three defeats in a row, San Mateo turned things around against Branham on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 64-41 margin over the Bruins. Given the Bearcats' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 343rd, while the Bruins are ranked 737th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Milpitas came tearing into Wednesday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They strolled past the Longhorns with points to spare, taking the game 53-37. 53 seems to be a good number for the Trojans as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.

Milpitas pushed their record up to 6-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.5 points per game. As for San Mateo, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
