Softball Recap: Sun Valley Comes Up Short

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Sun Valley and Porter Ridge meet (two straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Wednesday. The Spartans took a 13-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pirates. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Pirates this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-8 on Wednesday.

Caryna Noel (2025) made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Mariah Garcia (2026) was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.

Sun Valley has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season. As for Porter Ridge, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 8-11.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Pirates beat Sun Valley by a score of 13-8 later that day.
