Preview: West Florence Knights vs. Hartsville Red Foxes
West Florence is 0-10 against the Red Foxes since November of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The West Florence Knights will look to defend their home court against the Hartsville Red Foxes at 6:00 p.m. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: West Florence has struggled recently with four defeats in a row, while the Red Foxes will arrive with seven straight wins.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 49-21, which was the final score in West Florence's tilt against the Chiefs on Friday. While losing is never fun, West Florence can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 183rd, while the Chiefs are ranked 50th).
Even though Hartsville has not done well against the Chiefs recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Hartsville walked away with a 60-47 win over the Chiefs.
West Florence has not been sharp recently as the team's lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-15 record this season. As for Hartsville, they pushed their record up to 19-6 with that win, which was their sixth straight at home.
West Florence took a serious blow against the Red Foxes in their previous meeting back in January, falling 64-24. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Hartsville's Jazzy Frierson, who scored 20 points along with seven assists and five rebounds. Now that West Florence knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
