Baseball Recap: Neumann Regional Academy Victorious

Neumann Regional Academy proved they can win big last Wednesday (they won by nine) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Benton Tigers, sneaking past 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Golden Knights have posted since April 30, 2024.

Angelo Birch made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits (and only one walk). Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.

Birch wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Andrew Walter, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Kane Meixel was another, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Neumann Regional Academy has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Benton, their loss dropped their record down to 4-2.

Coming up, Neumann Regional Academy will head out on the road to face off against Millville at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. The Quakers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so the Golden Knights' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Benton, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Bloomsburg at 11:00 a.m. The Panthers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.33 runs per game on average), something the Tigers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
