Baseball Recap: Cheney Takes a Loss

Cheney lost against Mead on Tuesday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Blackhawks fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 5-4. That's two games in a row now that the Blackhawks have lost by just one run.

Jace Vega was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. Another player making a difference was Brayden Martin, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Cheney has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season. As for Mead, their victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-10.

Looking ahead, Cheney will challenge Mt. Spokane at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Wildcats' pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so the Blackhawks' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Mead, they will take on Ferris at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
