Baseball Recap: Hartfield Academy Takes a Loss

Hartfield Academy had lost three straight at home, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 25-5 to make it four. They fell 11-6 to the Presbyterian Christian Bobcats. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Hawks, who until this contest were averaging three runs allowed.

Hartfield Academy got a good showing from Noah Flynn, who tossed 3.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Furthermore, Flynn didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in February.

At the plate, Sam Oakley made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. JP Abt was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

As for Presbyterian Christian, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 18-13 record. Considering their hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

On Presbyterian Christian's side, Brennon Thoms made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched six innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Presbyterian Christian is undefeated when Thoms allows two or fewer earned runs, but 12-13 otherwise. Thoms was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Thoms wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was JT Smith, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. That's the most runs Smith has posted since April 1st. Another was Jet Henderson, who went 1-for-3 with three runs.

As of now, neither Hartfield Academy nor Presbyterian Christian have any future games scheduled.
